about me

Melinda has provided counseling to individuals and families throughout Western North Carolina since 2012. She earned her Master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University and her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Montreat College. Melinda is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of North Carolina. She enjoys working with adolescents and adults dealing with family or relational issues as well as those having difficulty transitioning from one phase of life to the next. Melinda recognizes that change, both positive and negative, can invite stress into a person’s life, and in combination with other stressors, can make it difficult to move forward. Sometimes, the way we perceive these changes can adversely affect our behavior and cause problems, which is the central idea of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT).  Melinda integrates components of CBT along with her life experiences, spiritual worldview, and professional training in counseling to help individuals clarify needs and reach goals necessary for growth and change.

Counseling is truly a joy for me. It is a privilege to be able to help provide healing to those who are hurting. I felt called to the counseling field at a very young age and being able to be a part of change in a person's life is nothing short of incredible. Even if your situation seems hopeless, it is my belief that anything is possible with determination and commitment. So, whether you are dealing with depression, anxiety, stress, cutting, self-esteem issues, loneliness, parenting a difficult child, going through a bad break-up, rejection from friends, or need help navigating how to be single and finding the right person, I would love the opportunity to meet you and walk along side you while we work together to reach your goals.
