about me

Born and raised in the Swannanoa Valley, Melinda is grateful to work in the community she grew up in. Before relocating her office to Swannanoa in 2017, Melinda counseled individuals and families as an intern and Contract-Counselor at Biltmore Church in Arden, NC. She earned her Master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University and her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Montreat College. Melinda is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the State of North Carolina and a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of South Carolina. She enjoys working with adolescents and adults dealing with family or relational issues as well as those having difficulty transitioning from one phase of life to the next.

Melinda recognizes that change, both positive and negative, can invite stress into a person’s life, and in combination with other stressors, can make it difficult to move forward. Sometimes, the way we perceive these changes can adversely affect our behavior and cause problems, which is the central idea of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT).  Melinda integrates components of CBT along with her life experiences, Christian worldview, and professional training in counseling to help individuals clarify needs and reach goals necessary for growth and change.

Counseling is truly a joy for me. It is a privilege to be able to help provide healing to those who are hurting. I felt called to the counseling field at a very young age and being a part of change in a person's life is nothing short of incredible. Even if your situation seems hopeless, it is my belief that change is possible through faith and hard work. So, whether you are dealing with depression, anxiety, stress, cutting, self-esteem issues, loneliness, parenting a difficult child, going through a bad break-up, rejection from friends, or need help navigating how to be single and finding the right person, I would love the opportunity to help you reach your goals.
